  6. WHAT THE FUSS IS ALL ABOUT
  7. --------------------------
  8. The purpose of this patch is to let you have a degree of control over
  9. IBrowse 1.22 autosave feature.  Every minute, if no transfers/decodings are
  10. in progress, IB 1.22 saves the state of global history and the list of
  11. cached files.  Now, some people prefer to have rather gigantic caches and
  12. links as old as a year or so, what makes IBrowse really slow for them,
  13. because every minute they have to suffer through multimegabyte disk
  14. accesses.  Or so I am told.

  16. Anyway, decompress this archive somewhere, start a shell, CD to directory
  17. where the patch is and run it, typing
  18.

  21. It will ask you some questions, like where is your IBrowse and what should
  22. be the delay between autosaves and then start its job.

  26. -----
  27. The hack value of this product is greatly increased by the fact that you
  28. can apply the patch multiple times, even to PATCHED binary and it will
  29. still work.

  32. THINGS TO REMEMBER
  33. ------------------
  34. Always operate on a COPY of your IBrowse executable.  The patch is designed
  35. to work with 68020 version only (NOT 68000), with the file 430,508 bytes
  36. long - any other version will most certainly fail or worse, give you
  37. crashes later. Smoking is dangerous to your health.
